|

Hi,
The 145 (97 2.0clover) had been loosing steady amounts of fluid, which was finally tracked to one of the pipe/hose assembies that join the brake MC with the remote resovoir, and supply the fluid under gravity pressure.
It turns out that the front of the 2 assemblies must have come off its clip (near the pas bottle) some years ago, and an almost hole had been worn on the metal pipe near its join with the MCYL end hose, by rubbing on the pas hose concertina sleeving i guess. This was letting fluid weep out.
The pipes and hoses are not available thru AR, and 2 Alfa specialists had never heared of any probs with these pipes/hoses.
As the damage was near the end of the pipe, i cut it back about 2 inches, and fitted a longer piece of hose.
The hose is hard to find, but i did get some, online aprox £14/metre. It needs to be brake fluid resistant with a 7mm id.
This was all done with the assembly on the car, but disconnected at both ends, and pulled over to the offside. The stablisier bar was removed for a bit of accessibility.
