SCAM ALERT

Please be aware that scammers have attempted to defraud users of the alfisti.co.uk parts classified pages.

It would appear to be the same scam used on sellers using large auction websites.

Basically the scammer will contact a seller to arrange purchase and delivery of an item/s. They will then send a cheque including an overpayment.

They will then ask the seller to send the overpayment back to them. This happens before the 'buyers' cheque is fully cleared, and so the seller may assume that it has been banked safely, and so feels safe posting off a cheque and the goods.

Suprise, suprise the 'buyers'' cheque finally bounces, and the seller goes to stop their cheque, only to find that it has been subject to quick clearance the other end. Seller looses goods (which will probably end up in a skip or river), and some money.

Unfortunately in this day and age you can't trust anyone, so have a buyer bring you cash, or make sure their cheque (for the correct amount) has cleared fully before despatching your parts. If they are honest they won't mind waiting.
